Conditions

  • Diplôme de travailleur communautaire ou de travailleur social.
  • Au moins 2 ans d'expérience pertinente dans le soutien aux sans-abri et/ou aux personnes mal logées, ainsi qu'aux personnes aux prises avec des problèmes de santé mentale, de toxicomanie ou de maltraitance.
  • Certificats valides en premiers soins standard et en RCR, normes d'auberge, CPI, gestion de cas, antiracisme/anti-oppression, compétences en documentation (prise de notes), SIMDUT.
  • Compétences en gestion et prévention de crise.
  • Connaissance et sensibilisation démontrables des problèmes touchant les personnes sans-abri.
  • Compréhension et appréciation des questions d’inclusion et de diversité.
  • Engagement démontrable envers les principes d’antiracisme, d’antisexisme et de lutte contre d’autres formes d’oppression.
  • Excellentes compétences en anglais écrit et oral ; la maîtrise d’autres langues sera considérée comme un atout.
  • Compétences en communication efficaces; connaissances informatiques.
  • Capacité à travailler efficacement dans un environnement d’équipe collaborative.
  • La connaissance du SMIS sera considérée comme un atout.
  • Capacité à assumer la responsabilité et à gérer des réactions personnelles difficiles.
  • Formation et/ou expérience de travail connexe auprès de personnes défavorisées, sans-abri ou mal logées.
  • Connaissance des problématiques touchant cette population et connaissance des services d'urgence et sociaux.
  • Capacité à gérer les situations d’urgence ; compétences en résolution de conflits et en réduction des risques requises.
  • Solides compétences interpersonnelles et engagement envers une approche de travail en équipe
  • Doit être qualifié pour travailler légalement au Canada pour l’emplo

Responsabilités

  • Work in an effective, efficient and client focused manner to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
  • Work collaboratively with shelter, housing team, other departments and volunteers.
  • Respond to the needs of residents using the facility.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the facility and the care of the residents
  • Provide a safe and trustworthy environment and encourage residents’ input.
  • Complete intakes and discharges
  • Establish empathetic rapport with residents.
  • Adhere to the  mission, vision, policies and practices, Toronto and Ontario  Shelter Standards, Municipal fire safety, Board of Health guidelines and Hostel guidelines in the operation of the program.
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of programs and activities to address the health, employment, housing and social and recreational needs of the residents.
  • Work as a resource for residents, particularly around housing issues, support and advocacy.
  • Develop positive relationships with community groups, neighbours and resources in the larger community.
  • Participate in on-going team building, ensuring peer accountability, strong communications and support.
  • Attend and actively participate in department and agency meetings and training, workshops, etc. as required.
  • Use intervention and mediation skills to defuse potential conflicts.
  • Ensure all relevant information is communicated to the Manager and co-workers.
  • Perform light housekeeping and maintenance tasks to ensure a clean work environment.
  • Undertake other tasks and responsibilities as assigned within the purview of the job description.
  • Ensure all record keeping is up to date; review all incidents and log reports on each shift.
  • Participate in Client Intake Process in the Shelter(s).
  • Maintain appropriate information for funder reports as necessary.
  • Maintain client files.
  • Provide  reference  letters for clients.
